Feeling the pressure to get things done and “BE productive?”

Well, sharing productivity hacks isn’t what this post is about.

Instead, it’s a reminder.

That in case you are in any doubt…

Or you have unwittingly unseen our human-ness

We are not machines.

We may deny it and push against it.

But we cannot fight it.

It’s time to revisit this human truth.

It’s time to accept and normalise it.

We aren’t designed to work continuously for long periods of time.

We aren’t computers or fridges that just run and run… and run. 🏃‍♀️

Instead, we are designed to work and rest.

🤔Consider how these parts function:
❤️The heart beats and then rests.
💪Our muscles relax then contract.
🫁We breathe in and then we breathe out.

Athletes have known for years that the sustainability of their performance is only as good as a the 🔸quality of the rest 🔸 we get.

It’s time to work in harmony with our design.

It’s time to see the 💠value of rest💠 as we do the value of work.

It’s time for loving kindness not just for others, but for ourselves.

Still unconvinced?

Rest is vital for better mental fitness, increased concentration, memory, a healthier immune system, reduced stress, improved mood and even a better metabolism.

We can wait for those outside of us to mandate working in harmony with our bodies design or we can own how and when we rest and choose to look after ourselves.

🔹Why is it so hard for us to value rest?

🔸What is it in your opinion that really needs to change?

🔹With mental health challenges and burnout on the rise, how can we accept our human-ness, our design and do things better?

We want to live well, right?
