Truth or lie?

Or something else?

We tend to trust what goes on in our brains.

After all, if you can’t trust your own brain, what can you trust?

Generally, this is a good thing.

The brain is designed to alert us to danger and find solutions to the problems we encounter every day.

However, there are some occasions when you may want to stay curious a little longer, about what your brain is telling you.

It’s not that your brain is purposely lying to you, it’s just that it may have developed connections over time, that have created narratives that aren’t accurate reflections of how and what things are.

Our brains are predisposed to making connections🔗 between thoughts, ideas, actions, and consequences, whether they are truly connected or not.

In the context of our thoughts and beliefs, these inaccurate connections are referred to as 🧠cognitive distortions🧠

Cognitive distortions are biased perspectives we take on ourselves and the world around us. 🌍

They are irrational thoughts and beliefs that –
🔸we unknowingly reinforce over time🔹

Why am I sharing this?

When we are feeling stuck, dissatisfied, or struggling to make change in our lives, increasing our self-awareness of our cognitive distortions and our patterns can literally be life changing.

👀We see the unseen👀

Cognitive distortions can be likened to a computer program💻

When we run a program over and over, we get the same results.

If the results you are getting in life aren’t working for you, it might be time to examine if cognitive distortions are keeping you stuck and getting in the way of you creating the life you want.

The good news📰 is our brains are a work in progress.

New connections and new results can be made as we learn.

We have the chance to grow 🌱
